Effects of Temperature on the Tribological Properties of Cylinder-Liner Piston Ring Lubricated with Different Oils

As one of the important friction pairs a diesel engine, cylinder-liner piston ring (CL-PR) faces harsh high-temperature working environment. To explore mapping relationship between performance CL-PR and change in temperature, reciprocating-friction wear-testing machine was used to analyze lubrication four kinds lubricating oil at different temperatures (room 60 °C, 90 120 °C) from coefficient, contact resistance surface topography. The results show that tribological properties oils trends with increase temperature. coefficient base first decreases then increases temperature; this shows property is improved by certain temperature rise, promotes formation an oxide film reduces coefficient. While other three specific application scenarios remains stable, wear pair most severe °C. forms are abrasive adhesive wear.
